Today’s Small Step: Sleepy Feet

If 2023 is the year you vow to sleep better, here’s one small step to help: Wear socks to bed. Studies show that warm feet help regulate the body’s circadian rhythm—the natural cycle that helps us konk out—and wearing socks to bed helps keep our blood vessels open and our body cycles flowing. That leads to a better night’s sleep, clearer thoughts in the morning, and even better digestion and detox. (It may also heighten sexual fulfillment, so…)

Wearing socks to bed can help the planet, too. When your body is warm, you can turn down the heat, saving both energy and cash. You can also pull on any lone sock stragglers or mismatched pairs, because they don’t belong in a landfill—just in your PJ drawer!
